Since 2017 I've been lecturing at various universities and international intitutions, such as FHNW University of Art and Design Basel, Parsons School of Design NY, University Pforzheim, AMD Akademie Mode & Design Munich, Media Design School Munich, Museum Brandhorst Munich.
In my role as academic assistant for New Materials and Technologies in the Textile Design Department at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart I focus on the integration of new technologies in the design and manufacturing process of textiles.
CRAFTING FICTION TEXTILE LAB - Electromagnetic Coexistence
We devote ourselves to the question of how animals communicate by means of electromagnetic and electric fields. We imagine about future or still unknown possibilities to join this electrified dialogue, speculate wildly about cross-species forms of communication and dream of electromagnetic coexistence.
We do this based on scientific findings and applied experimentally using electro-textile craft techniques. The speakers made of different materials (= electro-magnetic fields), open up alternatives regarding interaction and design.
Students: Annika Büchler, Leoni Cavegn, Anna Dettwiler, Rosalie König, Nicola Langlotz, Zoe Van Pottelberghe, Luc Reinacher, Azura Silberschmidt, Laura Strazza, Aron Stucki, Vera Vogelsanger.
A Good Place To Be - Where is a good place to be, to stay, to remain - where and with what do we feel good? The title of the semester project can also be read in relation to clothing - and refer to a particular piece of clothing that we feel comfortable in or that makes us feel good.
Clothes, as our second skin, can have a big impact on how we feel in them and certain properties of material and cut, but also aspects of sustainability can contribute to feel comfortable in and with our clothes. Is it produced ecologically and sustainably, dyed with vegetable dyes, is it a second-hand remix or does it visualise a certain mindset and identity? Clothes are still purpose-bound for us, but they are also the fulcrum of the visual sign system and as such, clothing can be a reflection surface of social issues and an expression of attitude and opinion.
The textile design students were familiarised with the concept, structure and design of fashion collections. They were guided through the process of target group analysis, concept development, mood and colour board design and learned to visualise their collection in the form of collages. From this they designed the relevant fabrics, materials and prints for their collection. Different textile design techniques were introduced and applied.

BLINK BLINK BZZZ BZZZ…!
Technologies that affect our bodies have changed massively over the course of the 20th century, influencing the way we perceive our bodies. From smart watches and glasses to glowing or vibrating garments, we are already moving towards the “smart skin”. But what functions do we actually want in the future from technologies that come very close to our bodies? What role can they play in our everyday lives?
Together, we speculate on possible and impossible future scenarios and design fictional wearables that can support us in various situations.
SOLAR HARVEST
Sunlight is omnipresent in public space and best of all, it's free. How can we collectively harness this energy source and what would we like to use it for? In SOLAR HARVEST we explore the potential of small 6 volt solar cells and use our solar harvest to power electronic elements like motors and LEDs. To create functional circuits, we combine them with textile means, such as conductive yarns and fabrics. Within this convergence of electronics and textiles, known as e-textiles or electronic textiles, we explored the interplay of material, form and function and learn how to connect the electronic components.

BIOTOPIA — SPINNING TEXTILE FICTION
In this design project third semester students were introduced to the concept of Utopia and Dystopia.
They were invited to speculate about possible futures, applying methodologies of Speculative and Critical Design. The concepts that have emerged explore alternative perspectives on the human-nature relationship — fictional, utopian or entirely pragmatic. Functional aspects and possible applications of interior design and textiles were rethought.
MATERIALITY OF SOFT SOUND
In "materiality of soft sound" we devoted ourselves to different textile techniques as well as the design of loudspeakers. Within this convergence of electronics and textiles, known as e-textiles or electronic textiles, we explored the interplay of material, form and function of soft sound speakers and how to connect them to amplifiers and soundboards.
On the last day of the workshop, the results were presented in an installation sound collage.
