Jennifer Keusgen is a designer with an investigative and research driven approach in the field of textile and fashion design. Within her creative practice she explores alternative forms of dealing with and producing fashion, according to the concept of “Caring Garments” that implement the tactile and haptic criteria’s relevant to the human body. Experimenting with methods from integrative design, design research, speculative design and critical design, she creates artefacts and experiences that aim to provide embodied experiences as well as space for critical reflection.
After her fashion design studies at the Pforzheim University - School of Design and a stay abroad at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, India, Jennifer Keusgen worked internationally as a concept and fashion designer for several years. In 2020, she completed the Master's degree in Integrative Design at the Academy of Art and Design (FHNW) in Basel. Her master project "Tactile Matters" was presented in several design magazines and at research congresses and currently at the exhibition "Take Care" an immersive exhibition that explored individual and collective wellness through design at the ISOLA Design in Milano 2023.
She teaches as academic assistant for the Studio New Materials and Technologies in the Textile Design Department at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart, engaging with new textile practices in the field of Electronic and Digital Textiles.
